Our Little One Likes Avocados!
A long, long time ago (really only a year ago), we went through a spell of eating truly healthy. From ordering weekly baskets of organic vegetables to drinking green glob vegetable juice to partially following the Maker’s Diet, we were, let’s just say, NUTS about eating healthy. Eating a piece of chocolate would have been considered a sin.
Well, that was a year ago.
Around the end of August, we found out that there was something growing inside Susan’s tummy. 3 weeks later, morning sickness hit. It was no “morning” sickness. It was 24/7 of nausea, vomiting, and puking for 7 straight month at the expense of 10% reduction in body weight and everyone’s sanity.
A few trips to the ER and doctors later, it was unofficially diagnosed that our little one was allergic to all things green and/or healthy. So it was KFC gravy (with a bit of mash potato), Twix, and Papa John’s Mexican Ole that sustained both Susan and the little one for a few months.
For what seemed like an eternity, the puking episodes finally went away, but the allergic reaction to greens/healthy food didn’t. Fortunately, our little one’s appetite and food intake expanded to being able to tolerate Tim Tam, whole fat milk, and Nestle hot chocolate.
Then one day last month, Susan had a small bite of avocado. It was the first green thing she ate in … 8 months. A few seconds later, our little one jumped and kicked with glee! And so did Jason. We finally found one green thing that our little one is not allergic to!
Jason went to Metro and stock-piled on avocados. And so that’s one more thing that our little one is made of.
Here below is a pie chart showing the composition of our little one.
She’s a delicious little one and we can’t wait to meet her!

What is Taobao?
Taobao is like the Chinese version of eBay, but much better. Almost everything sold on Taobao is brand new and sold with a set price, unlike eBay where it started as an auction site. Shipping is usually around 5-10 RMB (less than $2).
You can find almost anything (and we mean EVERYTHING) on Taobao. [...]
Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Tomato-Free Lasagna!
What?! Gluten-free, dairy-free, AND tomato-free lasagna? Is that even possible? Can you even call “it” a lasagna?!
YES!
It’s a culinary feat that took months of research, planning, experimentation, and of course, secrecy.
Jason had lasagna for the very FIRST time in his life on his 33rd birthday.
Well… actually, it was 3 days after his birthday. His [...]

Google Christmas Party at Le Meridien
Here’s a picture of us at Google Shanghai’s Christmas party (“Casino Night”) at Le Meridien. We each got a bundle of Google bills to trade in for chips to play at different tables. It was our first time gambling on a real casino table (minus the worthless chips).
(Notice the slight bump that’s supposed to [...]

There are two occasions when the three Wu sisters took “see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil” pictures. The first time was in 2005, two days before our wedding, when the Wu and Wong family had dinner at Really Good Seafood in XinTianDi. The second time was in 2006 for the Wu family [...]

Last weekend, our friends and neighbors’ boy turned two years old! We celebrated Riley’s birthday at the swimming pool/clubhouse in phase 3 of Classic Gaudii (we live in phase 4). The pool place is very nice with several pools—indoor, outdoor, kids, Jacuzzi—and tables/chairs. It’s a nice setup for a summer party!
