(Post by Susan)
I grew up with two sisters—Nancy the oldest, Iris the middle, and I’m the youngest. The three of us are three years apart. We all graduated from Milpitas High School. We all went to U.C. Berkeley and majored in degrees never put to use (Biology, Architecture, Music/Economics). We all kept our last name when we got married. And we’re all the family CFO.
Growing up, we didn’t always get along. It was more like, Nancy and Iris always played together and ganged up against me. I was always the spoiled brat. After college, we lived in different states/countries—New York, San Francisco, and Shanghai/China. The distance that separated us brought us closer together.
Nancy and I spent the last few weeks with Iris, walking with her through the darkest valley that nobody should ever have to go through. We would have done anything for her, if only we could take away her physical suffering. At least she wasn’t alone.
The picture below was taken on January 24, less than a month ago. This is the last picture we took of Iris while she was still feeling relatively well. This is also the last picture we took of the three sisters. Iris is on the left, I’m in the middle holding Avery, and Nancy is on the right.

Below are some photos of the three of us taken throughout the years. I’m still sorting through all the family pictures and will add them when I find them.
