DINKNA

A few acronyms worth explaining:

  • DINK: double income no kids
  • DINKWAA: double income no kids with an ahyi
  • SINK: single income no kids
  • DINKNA: double income no kids no ahyi
  • DINKWAD: double income no kids with a dog

We used to be a DINK and life was great. Then we became a DINKWAA when we got an ahyi to help out out around the house. It was great to come home to a clean house and have dinner prepared on the table. It also made us super lazy. Our ahyi did all the grocery shopping and the cleaning including laundry and ironing. We barely lifted a finger.

Then we became a SINK when Susan quit her job at school and we moved to a new home with mortgage ten times our previous rent. We didn’t have the financial luxury of keeping an ahyi anymore so we let her go.

Now we’re a DINKNA and our home, our new home that’s supposed to be brand new clean and clutter-free, is in chaos. We’re barely over our jet lag, but that in combination with both of us working again, all we could manage is vegetate on the couch at the end of the day. The refrigerator is mostly empty, laundry basket is full, random things scattered all over the place, and suitcase still unpacked.

Welcome to DINKNA!
