Back in December 2005, BusinessWeek came out with an article about some of the new architectural wonders that China is undertaking, especially as the country prepares for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. It included a slide show introduction of some of these buildings, which we’ve posted the pictures here. Click here read details about each of these buildings. Now that Olympics is less than a year away, many of these buildings are heading towards completion. Yesterday, the Beijing International Airport, which was shown off on CCTV as being the largest and most technologically advanced airport in the world. It should be no surprise to anyone that China is trying to impress the world with its massive building construction projects and architectural wonders. We are wondering whether these places would also have world class services to match its facade.
On another note, Beijing is trying to clear up its air by limiting the number of cars on the road by using the odd/even number license plates system. Whether the car ban will work or not, we are certain that Beijing will have clear blue skies on August 8, 2008. It’ll be so clear that you’ll see the stars too! And we are also sure that after the Olympics are over, the dirty smog-ridden polluted air would come back. We are just wondering where and how the government is hiding them!
