SMIC Community Service Club’s first flea market was a great success! We had a great turnout of student volunteers and shoppers. All our youth group kids helped out! It was also company sports day and CSC had a food booth selling fresh watermelon juice, sandwiches, pearl milk tea, and Korean sushi. Altogether, we raised more than 5000 RMB and will donate them to Huge Grace Orphanage. Leftover clothes will be donated to River of Hearts. The rest of the items not sold will be kept in storage for next CSC flea market!
It makes us happy to see young people being more involved and aware of different ways they can contribute to the community in meaningful ways. Some students spent a lot of time designing posters for the flea market. Some students used their culinary skills and made delicious sandwiches and sushi for the food booth. Some students used their economic/business skills to determine the best prices to sell items. Some students volunteered their time to be sales people. Some students stayed behind to clean up. Whatever they did, everyone worked together to make a difference in the community. This is what EXCITES us the most.
