Been experimenting with different programs, photo albums, and stylesheets to find the easiest and simplest way of organizing, viewing, and sharing our photos. Many people use Flickr but I find it to be slow in up/downloading the pictures. The pictures appear small (relative to the entire page), it costs money for a pro account, but also, we wanted to share our pictures from our own website.

Picasa recently updated their photo album and they added extra features which pretty much made it the perfect photo browser/organizer/editting software! You can now save your edits with a simple click. They just came out with the Picasa Web Album, which is an online photo album similar to Flickr. You can upload your albums online (hosted by Google) with a simple click and the pictures/comments /slideshows look exactly as it does using Picasa software! 250 MB of free space! Almost perfect, except, we still wanted our photos on our website.

After looking for a simple web template to plug into Picasa, we finally found one that was simple (Autoviewer) and we really like! With some tweaking, I was able to plug it right into our wordpress blog. =) Check out what we have so far! http://www.blindmansfaith.com/updates/photo-gallery/

Everything is done using Picasa software. All the photo edits, comments, album description, html, coding, and uploading is handled by the software. Then, we just have to add a page on the wordpress blog with the album address (hosted on our own server). As simple as that! No more redundant steps, writing comments on the computer and commenting again online.

The only thing that this web template doesn’t have are thumbnails. We decided to do away with the thumbnails and keep it simple. Picasa crops all the pictures to a fast downloadable size so people can breeze right through the pictures fast (or run the slideshow).

Wow, I like your new gallery, Autoviewer is awesome. Curious, is it also possible to have descriptions/titles in Autoviewer?

I use Flickr for various reasons, mainly for the community aspect of it, and I also use it as backup for my photos (unlimited storage). There are also plenty of plugins to insert photos in your blog (whichever size you want). Uploading is not too bad if you install their uploadr software, it can auto resize too.

I like the integration between Picasa (desktop) and PWA (online). I only wish Picasa could be integrated with Flickr (never gonna happen).
