The medication that Jason has been taking (antibiotics & antiviral) seems to work a little bit but he is in a lot of pain right now and unable to eat much as it is too painful to move. To spare you the gruesome details, basically his face is almost unrecognizable. Mostly in the healing process but there are some parts that aren’t healing. We are going to see another specialists today. Thanks to help of family friends in getting us appointments. It is almost impossible to get appointments as most of them are either on vacation on won’t accept new patients. We are comforted knowing all the prayers that have been said on our behalf along with all the love and support of family/friends.

As shared earlier, we have been encouraged by the verse “Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.” (Proverbs 3:25-26) It was a fine Tuesday morning in New York when Jason shared this verse with me. (he was 100% well at the time) We shared about our worries and fears. I told him the one thing I’m most afraid of is that God would take away his life and leave me all by myself. It was too painful to think about it and I didn’t want to share any more. We just prayed that we would have the confidence to trust in God if anything ever happened to us.

That night, we flew to SF and the next morning, he woke up with viral/bacterial infection all over his face. The conditions have worsened since then and he is in a lot of pain. It hurts to see him suffer and not being able to do anything about it. However, despite the sudden illness and unexpected delay going back to Shanghai, I feel a comforting presence and peace inside, confident and knowing that God is in control and walking with us during this time of difficulty. I guess it is only when we truly face calamity in the eye that we find this incredible and unexplainable inner strength that only comes from above.

During both our wedding reception (Shanghai & Boston), we chose a song with words of wisdom that would carry us through the years.

Blessed Be Your Name
In the land that is plentiful
Where Your streams of abundance flow
Blessed be Your name

Blessed Be Your name
When I'm found in the desert place
Though I walk through the wilderness
Blessed Be Your name

Every blessing You pour out

I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering

Blessed be Your name

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say

Lord, blessed be Your name

This past year of marriage has been a time of plentiful and we are thankful. And now with this sudden illness and the future is uncertain, yet again, we will say… blessed be the name of the Lord.

Thanks for praying.

Dear Susan and Jason: We would like to go through this with you at this time regardless of the far distance. We are waiting for the good news from you everyday. Most important thing we learned is that: To believe in God does not mean we won’t have any difficulty in the life, but we do have the strength and wisdom from Him in hard time.

I have been looking for a story or verses for you.
Daniel 3:17-18 3:17 “If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
3:18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
” These verses really tell me what is the real faith in God.

    Daniel 3:19-25
“3:19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
3:20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
3:21 Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
3:22 Therefore because the king’s commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
3:23 And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.
3:24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
3:25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.”
I pray that God is with Jason and you as He was with the three young men in verses.

    Daniel 3:26-30
“3:26 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.
3:27 And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king’s counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.
3:28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
3:29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
3:30 Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon. ”

I pray that God deliver Jason from the illness with His own power, and have you blessed more in/after this experience.
