Risk, Conflicts, and Survival

Game of RiskYesterday after service, we played the game of Risk with Gideon and Laura. The game lasted from 2:00pm to 8:30pm, a whopping 6+ hours game and it wasn’t even for “world domination”! The goal was to take over 2 continents and hold them for one complete turn. It was indeed an intense epic game of survival, betrayal, conflict, torture, and death. Not yet two hours into the game, Jason was exterminated by the ruthless Gideon. Laura, relatively new to the game, made random acts of aggression and lost many valiant men. The rest of the game became a matter of survival, gathering all her men and retreating to a corner. As for Susan, the super cautious and placid one, avoided conflict by keeping her men from the vicinity of Gideon’s forces, slowly and gradually accumulating her army to a sizeable one greater than that of Genghis Khan. Many a turns, Susan had 2 continents and was very close to winning, but for fear of conflict and heavy casualty, she always retreated her army to escape Gideon’s aggression, unbeknownst that his devious tactic was to save his own men from battle and force others to attack Susan with heaviest casualty to all! Wicked! Laura went home early and Jason took over her territories, coming back from the dead. By the last hour, Gideon had taken over Asia and Australia. Susan would have had enough men to battle Gideon had not Jason shockingly turned against her and decimated her largest force. Treacherous! And thus, Ghengis Gid won the game and Susan cried to sleep last night having been betrayed by her very dear hubby.
