How many people actually back up all their computer data on a regular basis? We’ve all heard of many people’s computer crashing, hard drive failure, stolen computers, etc… and yet the same sad story over and over again — they didn’t have any backups and lost everything - all their files, pictures, music, etc…
Last night, Susan was reformatting our IBM Thinkpad because it was getting really slow. Thinkpad has this one button rapid restore to factory content and what was supposed to happen was that the windows partition would be reformatted and restored to original factory content. All the other partitions would be left untouched. Or at least that was the case the last TWO times Susan tried it.
Last night, unfortunately and to our dismay, the one touch rapid restore wiped the ENTIRE hard drive content and all that’s left was a brand new clean install of Windows XP Professional and 35 GB of free space!! Woo hoo…. talk about purging and cleaning out all the junk that has been accumulated over the last decade! Totally and completely unasked for, yet somehow felt a littly purifying and liberating! Bye bye all the pictures from the last decade. Bye bye to the 200+ CDs worth of MP3s. Bye bye to 10 years of tax and financial records….
