Spiritual Classics by Richard Foster
Earlier thoughts (and post) about what it would be like to begin our marriage in fear of the Lord and to walk in His ways, we decided to spend the first year of our marriage focusing on and studying the spiritual disciplines. Based on Richard Foster’s book Celebration of Discipline, he compiled a devotional book called Spiritual Classics, which has selected readings on each of the 12 disciplines he wrote about in Celebration of Discipline. The 12 disciplines are: meditation, prayer, fasting, study, simplicity, solitude, submission, service, confession, worship, guidance, and celebration. The writings include those of Amy Carmichael, John Wesley, Thomas More, Martin Luther King, John Milton, Leo Tolstoy, A.W. Tozer, Thomas a Kempis, and many other great classics. We’ll be focusing on one discipline each month and finding ways to apply it to our marriage.

Please join us in prayer as we go through the studies on the spiritual disciplines.
