Went to a piano duo concert at the Shanghai Concert Hall and that was a lot of fun! We got there a little late due to rush hour traffic so we missed the first piece, which was Bach Toccata and Fugue.
Really wanted to hear that piece…. Other pieces they performed: something by Schubert (can’t remember what it was), Saint-Saens Carnival of Animals, Poulenc Capriccio, and Ravel Bolero. Carnival of Animals was a fun piece to listen to. One of Susan’s student, Jennifer Lin, loves that piece! Wish she was there to enjoy the performance! The Bolero piece was a little boring though, the same 2-3 measure theme repeated about 100 times…. the piece is really meant for orchestral, not two-piano arrangement.
Now feeling more inspired to play more piano duets and duos together.
Well… we’ll be doing that at the wedding!
